What to know
- Fletcher was indicted; charges were dropped after he admitted wrongdoing by his administration.
- Barr was not charged in that matter.
- FEC Matter Under Review 8060 was dismissed 6-0 and the file was closed.
Roll Call reported in 2010 that Barr worked as deputy general counsel to Gov. Ernie Fletcher while the administration was under investigation over Kentucky's merit hiring laws. Fletcher was indicted, and the charges were dropped after he cut a deal and admitted wrongdoing by his administration. Barr was not charged.
Separately, FEC Matter Under Review 8060 listed Andy Barr for Congress Inc., Barr personally, and Paul Kilgore as respondents over an alleged disclaimer violation.
The Commission decided by a vote of 6-0 to dismiss the complaint consistent with its prosecutorial discretion, and to close the file. A dismissal is not a finding of wrongdoing, and this project will not describe it as one.
